Ayesha Kamal Khan is a visual artist who lives and works between Islamabad and New York. Her
work deals with local material extractions and the incapacity of translation. She exaggerates
temporary solutions to claim land, looking for a balance from the lack thereof.
Ayesha Kamal Khan graduated from the National College of Arts, Pakistan in 2011, and
earned an MFA from Pratt Institute, New York in 2015. She was one of the participants of
Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2015 and also a fellow at the Whitney Independent
Study Program 2022-23. Khan is also one of the founding members of collective ‘second practice’
showing work at the Karachi Biennale 2022 and working on a year-long research project ‘The
Artist As Translator’. Khan’s work has been exhibited at art institutions internationally, including
Venice Architecture Biennale 2021, the Cuadro Gallery in Dubai, and the Queens Museum in New
York.
